Here it is! (It's a bit too big and is clipped and needs to be taken in, but you get the idea). I'm so excited now!

This is my soon to be niece. I think we're all in trouble later. Her Daddy helped her with this one and she kept looking in the mirror saying "Missa (Marissa) pretty!"
These days, you can't get away from companies trying to capitalize on the atmosphere of fear that his been created by constantly hearing about a bad economy and ever increasing gas prices. Yes, it IS ridiculous, but at the same time I really feel like without hearing these things on the news and seeing them on the computer constantly that I'd see the higher prices on food and other things and maybe comment and be slightly annoyed with the increase, but otherwise not worry too much about it. It's despicable how people are trying to play on these fears and in several cases actually take advantage of people from it. For example: $2.99 gas guaranteed for 2 years up to 1200 miles when buying a car. At first this might look great, but if it's taken into account that a $3500 rebate is lost, you realize they're assuming people will give into their fear and be suckers and not really save anything. Right now gas is $4 a gallon, and let's say next year it's $5 a gallon. $1.01 x 1200 miles = $1212 $2.01 x 1200 miles = $2412 So that's $3624 - $124 difference.... oh boy.... Now, let's say the car is $20,000 and we have great credit and get 4% on the loan Interest without rebate = $20,000*.04 = $800 Interest with rebate = ($20,000-3,500)*.04 = $660 So it's really the same thing... and if you have worse credit or a more expensive car, the rebate is really the better deal. This is just an example of how people really aren't thinking it through because they're giving into the atmosphere of panic that has been created.
So gas for a car company makes some sense, but when food places like KFC are trying to use higher gas prices as incentive to buy their food, you know someone just really isn't thinking about it. (Not that they always do with advertising, seeing as clothing companies use naked models to sell (lack of?) clothes, etc).
Yes, things cost more than before, no you don't need to freak out about it. We really are pretty spoiled rotten in the United States. All we really need to do is get our priorities straight. Gosh darn, I can't go out to eat now 3 or 4 nights a week, how will I ever manage to put gas in my stupid fake hummer now!? Seriously people, use your brain and think about these "deals" and what your spending priorities are.
So we got the
papers back on the appraisal of our house and I don't think they did diddly
squat.
They gave the EXACT same number that we offered. It looks like they just didn't
want to dick with it and said okay, that sounds fine.
WTF did we pay them $350 for?!?!?
